Windows XP:
When using the Windows driver (5.12.0001.0044), you may hear intermittent static and popping in sound effects in the game. This does not occur when using the manufacturer driver PSC70517_WDM_ENG_V189.
When using the manufacturer driver noted above with the Mixer Config set to Hardware with Effects enabled, sound is always mono. Setting Mixer Config to Software corrects this issue.
When Mixer Config is set to Hardware with Effects disabled, you may hear static in the game. Setting Mixer Config to Software corrects this issue.
Windows 98SE/ME:
When Mixer Config is set to Hardware, there will be no sound effects in menus or in the loading screen. You may also hear static and distortion in various sounds in the game.
When Mixer Config is set to Software, you may hear severe popping in the loading screen.
